The longline is a long-distance multi-hook rig used for professional or recreational saltwater fishing, in shallow water as well as deep water. It comprises a main line on which leaders (snoods) are attached at regular intervals, each terminated by a hook. Set and lifted at intervals, the longline covers a large fishing area passively.
You will find ready-to-fish longlines (main line + snoods + hooks + end floats/weights), self-assembly components (main line on 100 m+ spool, individual snoods in various lengths, snap-on attachments), and longline accessories (storage baskets, surface markers, light anchors). Lengths span from 50 m (inshore drop-line) to several hundred metres (deep-sea longline).
