The gaff is the capture tool for big fish on the boat, when the landing net can no longer contain the volume. A hardened-steel hook mounted on an aluminium or wooden handle, which penetrates the mouth or jaw to bring the fish aboard. Indispensable for big-game fishing (tuna, marlin, amberjack) and useful in coastal fishing (big sea bass, pollack, conger).
