The jig is a metal lure designed for vertical saltwater fishing or for shore jigging from the bank: its slender shape and concentrated weight let it sink very fast and present an erratic action on the lift. It's the reference lure for boat pelagics (amberjack, dentex, smaller tuna) and for stand-up shore fishing from the rocks.
You will find vertical jigs for boat fishing (60 to 300 g, slim or wide profiles depending on desired fall speed), slow-pitch jigs for finesse fishing on pressured pelagics (flat profile, slow mid-water animation), shore-jigging jigs from the bank (20 to 80 g, powerful casting), plus specialised jigs (jig casting, micro-jigs for sparids). Pale colours mimic sardines; glow colours are used in deep water.
The jig catalogue is led by Explorer Tackle (vertical jigs and shore jigs for saltwater), complemented by the Flashmer range, Booyah and Scratch Tackle, plus Crazee, Lunker City, Freedom and Yo-Zuri on various references.
