The Shaker is the result of several years of design and testing by the Lunker City R&D team.
This lure isn’t specifically designed for shallow areas, as it requires a jig head of a certain weight to perform at its best.
However, in water just a few meters deep, it allows for slow, linear retrieves if you match the right jig head to the depth.
Its specialized material is flexible enough to start moving at the slightest touch but responsive enough to generate powerful vibrations thanks to its very wide, round paddle.
This paddle significantly influences the lure’s action, giving the body a strong rolling motion.
In plain terms, it creates a lot of commotion, even during slow, scraping retrieves.
For boat fishing, it’s the perfect type of lure for covering large areas, even at depth.
One of the techniques where it excels is, among others, running it down the steps of steep banks.
The key is, once again, to be slow.
A technique that can pay off big time!
You’ll also notice that the fish are often all on the same step at the same time.
Even during the slowest retrieves, its very wide round paddle and the specific texture of its material emit powerful vibrations detectable over significant distances.
Coming to life at the slightest tug, this lure develops extreme rolling action by alternately presenting its sides in a provocative manner.
Its body has a durable texture, and the cutout at the front makes it easy to rig onto a jig head.
When paired with a jig head, it can be used for slow linear retrieves to cover vast areas, as well as for vertical jigging or “dead bait” techniques over rocky areas.
It is particularly well-suited for targeting large sea bass or pollock in the calmest conditions or when focusing on specific areas (rocky outcrops, wrecks).
In freshwater, zander will appreciate its slow swimming action in the smaller sizes.
The 150 and 180 mm sizes are favored by all pike anglers: the smaller sizes (80 mm and 115 mm) are the most commonly used, but keep in mind that it’s common to catch pike with the 150 mm size!
This latter size is, of course, the best for pike.
And when it comes to retrieving, it’s no rocket science: a simple slow retrieve is where the Shaker excels. A far cry from the so-called “secrets” of some…
As for the lures themselves, some swear by light colors like Ice Shad, while others prefer the brightest shades such as “Fire Tiger” or “Atomic Chicken.”
In this series, one of the most consistent performers in terms of results is still, in our opinion, the “Limetreuse”!
As for catfish, hold on tight to your rod, because the largest size has proven its effectiveness on this species time and again.
A highly effective lure at a great price, even in the larger models—that’s rare enough to be worth noting! A “sure bet” that still has a bright future ahead of it.
