An 18-cm plastic float for light trolling. Attach it between the braided line and your leader; it rises to the surface as soon as you feel a bite.

Making your own trolling line is easy: Example setup (from the boat to your terminal lure):

Between 20 and 50 m of trolling braided line
The board (attached to the trolling line via the front ring)
10 m of 60/100-diameter nylon attached to the back of the board via a snap swivel
A swivel
A leader with 3 to 7 hooks (feathers, synthetic fibers, small lures such as sand eels or conger eels, max. 7 cm)
A swivel with a clip
2 m of nylon
Terminal lure (5 to 10 cm): mackerel spoon, eel, sand eel, minnow, 75 mm shrimp, etc.

Gradually let out your trolling line from the stern of the moving boat, and secure the trolling line to the boat. Maintain a speed of 3 to 5 knots. If you get a bite, the float will rise to the surface and you’ll see splashes. Reel the line back to the boat without tangling it and unhook your fish.

Light trolling allows you to catch mackerel, sand eels, garfish, sea bass, horse mackerel, needlefish, and more. It’s a fun fishing method that can be enjoyed by even the youngest anglers and is highly effective when fish are present.

After use, rinse the line with fresh water and wind it around a spool in a dry place.
