Tenya and madai (or tai rubber) are Japanese lures recently imported into Europe for boat fishing of sparids (gilthead, common sea bream, dentex) over sandy and rocky bottoms. The principle: a flat or conical jig head, topped with a bundle of silicone tentacles and a natural bait (prawn, langoustine) on the main hook.
You will find classic tenyas with main hook and stinger hook (Japanese reference, ideal for drift fishing), madais with leaded weight, silicone skirt and short leader (pure tai rubber technique, with no natural bait on some variants), spinning tenyas with built-in lead, plus replacement skirts and additional soft lures. Weights span from 30 g (shallow water) to 200 g (deep-water fishing).
This section is entirely composed of the Explorer Tackle range, covering tenya and madai references for saltwater sparid fishing.
