The Slug-Go perfectly mimics the erratic swimming motion of an injured fish, triggering an instinctive strike from all predatory fish (pike, zander, black bass, perch, catfish, sea bass, pollock, etc.)
Created over thirty years ago by Herb Reed, the Slug has become a benchmark in the world of soft lures.
Its specially engineered material is incredibly responsive and makes it highly reactive to twitches.
It features two deep grooves that give it greater mobility. Its "walking the dog" action can break down into wide, sweeping glides because the soft body accentuates the sway (we recommend "letting up" by giving slack after each pull).
Weightless or lightly weighted: Its high density allows it to be used without additional weight, rigged with a Texas hook like a “soft stick bait,” but with a highly erratic swim consisting of sharp lateral movements.
Weighted transversally with inserts, it will cast even farther and offer the advantage of sinking slowly and enticingly at the slightest pause.
With these two setups, it will navigate even the most cluttered spots where black bass or pike lurk.
It performs just as well at sea for sea bass in shallow areas dotted with kelp (such as estuaries) or when targeting rockfish, where its durability is highly valued.
Finally, it’s worth noting that American anglers use this method to catch the largest bluefin tuna by simply rigging it with a strong iron hook. An idea worth exploring!
- Wando: Paired with a swimming jig head (Vibr’action or Tête Slug), it is worked with short jerks during vertical fishing to create a three-dimensional action.
Its tapered shape, reminiscent of a small eel or sand lance, mimics their fluid and natural swimming motion to attract all marine predators, from sea bass to the largest pelagic species.
- Jigging or dandine: Mounted on short leaders or in a drop shot rig above a jig or a heavy Flashmer spoon, it will flush out large pollock and fine cod from wrecks or deep trenches.
